50/50

Uskomatonta kylla mutta ompelukoneet surraa jalleen. Kaikki kolme!
Kaavana on Onion 2035. Kankaina on puuvillaneulosta seka velouria.
(Mielenkiintoista muuten miten eri valossa molempien mekkojen vari vaihtuu aika lailla.)

Unbelievable but my sewing machines, all three of them, are back in use! :D I feel somewhat relieved when I finally have been able to sew something. I've got so many projects in my head as well as "ordered" by Big Miss. Let's see how this mummy fares with all these projects.
I finally sew the two dresses that I had cut back in last December. A bit late as I was thinking these dresses to be for winter and here we are spring knocking on the door. The pattern is Onion 2035. I drew both front and back as one piece without the empire cut. Fabrics for these were jacquard knit and velour. I fell in love with the mossy green of the velour but it's a bit thinner velour and not a good fabric choice for this at all for this pattern and for my curves. It feels like a sausage casing (pardon my language) when wearing it and shows absolutely everything. I used same size for both dresses and the blue one feels much bigger even though it might not be. It drapes nicely. I had to add something to the blue to break it up a bit. White in the wasn't enough so I added some white to the hem. I like it like this. Nice home dress.
Unfortunately only one of the two was a success. They both look goo hanging in a coat hanger but when wearing them the reality hits you hard. And as we (still) don't have a bog mirror which I could use to take fitting photos I have to be happy with the ones my (younger) assistant took. (Interesting how the colour of both dresses change so dramatically in different light.)

  1. I have a sewing machine, but I'm not very talented, so I rarely use it, if really really needed.

    1. I used to be like that! :) Then I got interested in quilting and did sewing... only straight! And bit by bit it has lead to this. Baby steps.

    1. Thank you so much Irene! :) I will continue sewing. My time is just so limited at the moment. And now all the extra time is going into painting my daughter's room. OH YAY! (NOT) I don't like painting very much.
